My idea of the ‘Would you Rather’ game is much more grotesque than this tag. I always assume the questions will be ‘Would you rather drink your own urine once a day or eat the excretion of a dog twice a week?’ The questions are book themed which excites me so I’d love to answer them. This blog post is inspired by Katherine’s Corner who attempted the tag herself.
Would you rather:
Read only trilogies or stand-alone books?
Who made this question? Satan? I think I would have to go with stand-alone books. Unless it’s Divergent. I always feel inclined to read the whole trilogy in one go without reading stand-alone books in between. I think some trilogies fail to keep up the story line for the entire three books… some lose excitement but other trilogies get more exciting as the series goes on so I’m at a crossroad here.
Read only female or male authors?
I don’t think gender matters when it comes to writing a book. I never choose a book based on whether a man or a woman wrote it. I loved Rainbow Rowell’s ‘Eleanor and Park’ but I also loved Stephen Chbosky’s ‘Perks of Being a Wallflower’. I think that both males and females are capable of writing all different genres of books that you love.
Shop for books online or at a bookstore?
I usually buy books from a bookstore because I very rarely look for a certain title. I tend to choose books on their synopsis and I tend to look at shelves and pick the ones which stand out the most. They are usually the books I love the most. I would rather shop for books at a bookstore.
All books become movies or TV shows?
I think if every book became a TV show, there would be absolutely nothing on television because TV shows adapted from books would take over. Gossip Girl was based on a series of novels and it is amongst my favourite TV series. I think I’d rather all books become movies because it won’t consume as much time as getting through various TV series would.
Read five pages per day or five books per week?
I’d love to be able to read five books per week but I don’t have enough time to. Assuming that I have absolutely no plans or commitments ever, I would love to be able to read five books per week. Imagine how many I could get through in my lifetime? But would you enjoy the book as much if you rushed to finish them? An average 300 paged novel would take you 60 days to complete. I’d rather read five books a week.
Be a professional reviewer or author?
An author. Definitely an author. I don’t think I’m insightful enough to review books but I’m not imaginative enough to write a novel either. I wish I was able to write stories. It’s definitely an aspiration of mine.
Only read your top 20 favourite books over and over or always read new ones that you haven’t read before?
Always read new ones. If a book is good, you remember it. Besides, life is too short to never explore outside your comfort zone.
Be a librarian or book seller?
Ooh a book seller. You could get an employee discount on books which would be so great. Reading is an expensive hobby. I love book shops and I could plan my next read whilst working.
Only read your favourite genre, or every genre except your favourite?
I dislike biographies. They don’t interest me in the slightest, however I love romance novels. I cannot get enough of romance. Please suggest some romance novels to me. (Guilty pleasure right here).
Only read physical books or eBooks?
I don’t understand e-books. My sister’s boyfriend bought me a KOBO (like a kindle) and as nice as the gesture was, I haven’t had much chance to use it. I like to physically own books and pick them up. I like flicking through the pages. I like looking after them. I also kind of like the smell of them? Is that weird because surely, I’m not the only one.
