Impossible is Nothing

Nothing disheartens me more than hearing someone’s dream shatter to pieces when life gets a little too daunting or their ambition seems too much to strive for.

Everybody has a dream albeit some may be less achievable than others. Dreams make your life worthwhile because they shine that little glimmer of hope in your life. If something is your dream then it shows that it is important to you and therefore it’s so important that you try to succeed at it.

You may dream of being a Disney Princess, though you may only find that you can achieve that through being an actress who is cast as the next Disney Princess or you may only achieve it through working at a Disney Park for a year making the lives of little children (and adults alike). Or maybe dressing up as a Princess whilst watching Disney films may have to suffice for your dream.

You may dream of performing the role of Fantine on stage in the West End but you’re losing faith because you realise how competitive the theatre industry is. (You didn’t think I was going to do a whole blog without mentioning Les Mis, did you?). You’ll be less likely to succeed if you don’t give it your all and especially in a business like theatre. It is a proper job and it IS achievable if you put 110% into it. Be prepared for rejection but also be prepared to smash it because you’ll get a lot further if you believe that you can do it.

You may dream of becoming the first human aeroplane, now I’m not sure how to overcome this one… but if you want to make it happen then make it happen. Do your research and research it until it’s impossible to find out more. Work out if and how it is possible to achieve it. Don’t give up until you know that you cannot physically do anything more than what you’ve already put in to making it happen.

I dream of becoming a journalist (specialising in TV, film, books and theatre)  and moving down to London but I don’t know anyone who lives in London who can accommodate me at a cheaper price than renting a flat on the outskirts. I’m fully aware that I might not be able to afford it. I’m aware that my writing isn’t at a journalistic standard however I’m prepared to give my all in order to get my name down in these magazines. To have people reading my articles. It’s my dream and one day, it will happen.

Don’t let anyone tell you that your dream will never come true because it can and don’t let anyone tell you to give up hoping because they don’t deem your dream to be ‘worthwhile’ or not. If you give up with something, make sure that it is on your terms only. Make sure you only give up because you cannot put in anything more towards succeeding and you’ve found something else to strive for. Don’t give up just because you can’t see the point in it anymore because success is just around the corner if you’re willing to put everything that you have into it.

However, it is important to set yourself up for failure. It’s important to go into something believing that you can do it and that you can succeed. But you also need to prepare yourself in case something doesn’t go in the direction that you planned. Be resilient. You can do it.

  1. This is so amazing. YOU are so amazing, and inspiring, and more to the point – you’re right. Too many people set themselves up for failure so much before trying to achieve something that they fail automatically, which is sad because it SHOULDN’T be like that.
